Coastal Marine Construction & Engineering Limited (COMACOE), an ISO 9001:2000 company and together with GeoQuest, GeoRent, Coastal Survey & Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. constitute the ‘Coastal Group’. The Coastal Group was incorporated with the prime objective to provide high quality, integrated geoscience, oceanographic, subsea solutions to the onshore and offshore oil & gas, port and marine infrastructure development sector. The independently managed and operated companies have acquired wide ranging expertise and experience in diverse onshore and offshore project execution and management in several specialized areas and geographies. Coastal has achieved a high rate of success & customer satisfaction in project execution due to the inherent strength flowing from its in-house availability of custom built marine spread including ocean going survey & geotechnical vessels, tugs, jack-up barges as also state-of-the-art surveying and subsea systems with associated highly trained & experienced manpower. Regular investments in capacity building and leveraging the expertise have resulted in impressive double digit year-on-year growths. An aggressively cautious, bold but calibrated approach has lead to transnational growth with projects for leading multinational clientele being executed in Kazakshtan, Qatar, Iran, UAE, Sudan, Vietnam, Malaysia. Extending this successful track record, COMACOE has now made a foray into the Gulf of Mexico having been awarded a US$ 12.5 Million (consortium of COMACOE-C&C Technologies-Blue Marine consortium, with COMACOE holding 63% revenue share) project for geotechnical and geophysical site surveys for 18 platform locations by Pemex. Many firsts have come in the way through the continuous evolution of the company, some of the notable ones are: ± First Indian company to execute the largest stand alone survey and geotechnical assignment (2nd South Bassein Hazira) for ONGC ± First Indian company to execute offshore geotechnical projects with indigenously designed, built and operated Jack Up barges. The first such project being in the Gulf of Cambay in 12m tide range and 8 knots of current ± First Indian company to work offshore in the Caspian Sea ± First Indian company to execute ROV inspection, survey & geotechnical work offshore in Persian Gulf, Qatar ± First Indian geosciences service provider to execute a single order value of US$ 8 million for a turnkey project ± First Indian company to construct integrated laying of offshore effluent disposal using laybarge method and seawater intake system ± First Indian company to execute subsea repairs of damaged PSC piles ± First Indian company to execute a project in Gulf of Mexico An ongoing US$ 5 Million is being invested in the further augmentation of marine spread and specialized plant & machinery over the current financial year. COMACOE operates a full fledged Geotechnical Vessel “Logos Searcher” for continental shelf geotechnical projects. The vessel has been successfully been deployed for several projects in India, Sudan, Vietnam, Malaysia for clients such as HOEC, Intec, Petronas, Murphy, Conson JV etc. The “Coastal Cheetah” a dedicated joystick control fully fitted out geophysical survey vessel was brought into the fleet in early 2003. The vessel has been actively employed for various offshore survey projects in UAE, Qatar, West Coast of India and is presently engaged on a two year integrated survey contract 2005-2007 for all ONGC rig move positioning services, offshore site surveys, pipeline route surveys and inspections. Pipe and cable laying equipments and spreads have been acquired in the year 2000 to meet the growing needs in this sector. COMACOE now has full in-house capability for onshore, close shore, marshy and inter tidal pipe and cable laying on turnkey basis. Contracts for GAIL for laying of 14" gas pipeline, armoured optic fiber cable through marine and marshy environment were successfully completed. This is a part of the worlds longest dedicated LPG pipeline completed and commissioned months ahead of schedule.
